Great features are nice colour logs, auto responder, mass-messaging, custom alerts and many many more. Get your update at the download section. |

Electrophreak
 dwergs says ( 25 Dec 2002 ):
|
As previously mentioned by m_chibi, Electrophreak discovered a huge problem with Microsoft's Passport sites: cookies can be "stolen" by abusing an XSS hole in forms on several MSN subsites (eg. MSN Entertainment). More details in MSN Security.
For now, Electrophreak advises to sign out of Passport every time. If you use MSN Messenger, you're dead meat because while logging on, you sign into Passport as well... and stay signed it. That's why MSN Messenger users better disable Active Scripting! |

 m_chibi says ( 24 Dec 2002 ):
|
ElectroPhreak has discovered a vulnerability in Microsoft's Passport service that could allow anyone to steal your Passport including your Hotmail account. Microsoft has been informed of the matter.

New: Away Messages!
 dwergs says ( 22 Dec 2002 ):
|
At last a new feature on Mess.be (and the first in a batch to come): Away Messages! These are short texts that automatically appear when someone's messaging you, justifying your absence and inability to reply.
We're collecting English as well as Dutch away messages because of the big proportion of Dutch visitors. And we're collecting alright, so please submit your OWN away messages and help us enlarge the collection. Just make sure they're funny and/or waaaay cool, and you might win one of the 10 license keys to DirectTalk for MSN Messenger by the generous JDSoft!
For your information: to enable away messages in MSN Messenger, you need a good add-on like Messenger Plus!. At the moment, the away status in Plus! works only with 4.x versions of MSN Messenger... but the first public beta of Plus! 2.0 will be released pretty soon (a matter of days perhaps)! |
5 million downloads
 dwergs says ( 22 Dec 2002 ):
|
Today I noticed a whopping 5 MILLION DOWNLOADS were made from Mess.be! That's over 10.000 daily, more than 7 per minute. But I'm not gonna calculate the amount of bandwidth... for personal health reasons ;) |
DX9 & Windows Messenger Problems
 Nicholas says ( 22 Dec 2002 ):
|
Microsoft admits in its Newsgroup that DirectX 9 might cause Windows Messenger not to work properly on some setups. They also mentioned that this is being looked into and promising a solution to this issue soon. Qba73 were able to provide us with a quote from Jonathan Kay, Windows MVP:
"It's being looked into -- hopefully a solution will be available soon. In the meantime, I don't believe any games exclusively require DirectX 9 to be installed (considering it was just released) -- you can easily use System Restore to restore back to before you installed it (Start, Help & Support, 'Undo changes to my computer using System Restore') and Windows Messenger should once again work properly."
