Improved Mess.be Emoticon Pictures page!
dwergs says ( 28 Mar 2003 ):
|
With the help of debuggers Kristjan and Timothy, I've revamped the MSN Messenger Emoticon Pictures collection. Concurrently, the number of emoticon pictures has doubled to 125 (and lots more still need to be added).
I'm sorry having to mention it, but webmasters already planning to "CTRL-C CTRL-V" the emoticon pics should read the copyright notice regarding our emoticon pictures database. |

MSN 5 out, and a warm welcome to number 6
timothy says ( 25 Mar 2003 ):
|
An article on WinInfo Daily update confirms the rumor that started with the Windows Messenger 5 Beta help file about MSN 5 getting kicked out of production and making place for a (better?) version number 6.
Due soon from Microsoft are MSN Messenger 6, the company's consumer-oriented IM client, and Windows Messenger 5, which targets enterprises. The Windows Messenger 5 beta is available as part of the Greenwich beta...
And some good news for everybody:
MSN Messenger 6 and Windows Messenger 5 will both reportedly offer IM archiving capabilities so that users can save conversations automatically or manually.

Wolkje: "Serving you ASAP"
timothy says ( 25 Mar 2003 ):
|
This almost couldn't get any faster, despite only a few people are still privileged to use the Windows Messenger 5 Beta at the moment. Wolkje from Wolkje Design could not resist the temptation to create the first compatible offline talker.
But fear not if you are not among those privileged people, this add-on is by far the most stable offline talker mess has witnessed in the last decade and does also work on MSN 4.x and older windows messenger versions.

Exclusive: MSN Messenger 6 coming !
timothy says ( 24 Mar 2003 ):
|
At the moment I am reviewing the Beta of Windows Messenger 5 (yes, Mess owns a copy, and no we are not going to spread it due legal to legal things). When opening the help file I stumbled on something shocking in the part about the ink-edit:
"For receiving ink:
You need a computer running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 with Windows Messenger version 5.0 (or MSN Messenger version 6.0). The latest version of Windows Messenger can be downloaded from the Windows Messenger site. "
This could mean 3 things: a) Someone made a typo (but not likely because MSN 5 does not support receiving ink at the moment) b) It will take a looong while before Windows Messenger 5 gets launched c) MSN Messenger gets scrapped (because of API things I guess) and replaced with a new version.
Please stay tuned for all the ins and outs of this new Windows Messenger 5. I can already tell it's a praise to MSN bot creators, but some of other things are left out. |

As far as we know this is the first television appearance of Mess.be and let's hope not the last. Oh, and hello to the Veronica viewers who found their way to our site today! :) |
Windows Messenger 5 Screenshots
dwergs says ( 24 Mar 2003 ):
|
Windows Messenger 5 is part of the Greenwich beta released by Microsoft about a week ago. Neowin.net obtained exclusive WM5 screenshots that show "new options such as the ability to connect to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services, for Windows Messenger to recieve ink (PIC-TIO-NA-RY time!), blocking MSN alerts and setting messenger's status to busy when full-screen programs are executed."

**UPDATE: Bink.nu has got some screenshots too. Steven also reports the contact groups option being absent in the current beta. |
