MeSseNtial: MSN6 CUSTOM EMOTICON AND DISPLAY PICTURE MANAGER by Sherv

Sherv's CE/DP Manager is an MSN Messenger utility that makes managing custom MSN 6 content - emoticons and display pics - easier and faster. Bathing in a cool GUI that recreates the MSN 6 feel perfectly, it contains four seperate tools:

- CE Importer to add many custom emoticons to MSN quickly (4 emoticons per second);

- DP Importer to add many display pictures swiftly;

- CE Dispatcher makes it possible to export and share all your emoticons with someone (or another one of your accounts);

- Backup/Restore allows you to backup your current custom emoticons, display pictures and backgrounds (ideal for real messers or when completely re-installing MSN Messenger 6).

The two weeks of Sherv's hard work on the development of the CE/DP Manager are now rewarded with the MeSseNtial status.

Instruction for usage of this program are below. For extra help with this program visit Sherv.net (and its forums). All feedback is appreciated and everyone is welcome to help out.

GENERAL NOTES!
- You will not be able to use your computer for a brief period while importing.
- It's normal to see screens flashing while importing custom emoticons.
- It isn't recommended that you add too many images at once (in case something goes wrong), add them in batches of around 50 for best results.

CUSTOM EMOTICONS IMPORTER

1. Find all the MSN Messenger emoticons you want to add into msn and put them in one folder.
2. It is recommended that they have meaningful names ( e.g. lol.gif ) and make sure they don't include any of these characters in the filename: % , ( )
3. Make sure the main MSN window (Contact List) is open and you are set to 'Appear Offline'
4. Open the importer and click on the 'Select folder' button, then browse to find the folder and select one of the pictures in the folder.
5. Chose the prefix to be used for them (e.g. ; in the box means that you will have to type ; before the name of the Picture to insert the emoticons into your conversation) and click on 'Import'
6. If you wish to send these imported emoticons to a friend, Click on the 'Save Dispatch file' button and type a name for the text file with the .txt extension (e.g. Dispatch.txt) and click 'Save'

NOTES! (see also the general notes above)
- The set keyboard shortcut will be your prefix and the name of the file. This is limited to 7 characters.
- To dispatch emoticons to your buddies, you must save a dispatch file when importing emoticons and loading that file into the dispatcher.
- If a keyboard shortcut is already used, it will be overwritten.

DISPLAY PICTURES IMPORTER

Not quite sure how to use the DP (Display Picture) Batch Importer?
In a few easy steps you will know!

1. Find all the MSN display pictures you want to add into msn and put them in one folder.
2. Make sure the filenames don't include the following characters: % , ( )
3. Make sure the main MSN window (Contact List) is open and you are set to 'Appear Offline'
4. Open the importer and click on the 'Select folder' button, then browse to find the folder and select one of the pictures in the folder.
5. Press import and it should start adding all the new display pictures.

CUSTOM EMOTICONS, DISPLAY PICTURES AND MSN BACKGROUNDS BACKUP/RESTORE

This will backup all your current emoticons, display pictures and backgrounds and make them available for a restore later. Once a restore is complete, sign out and back into MSN Messenger.
