What is a .zip file and how do I open them?

To make downloads more efficient, Mess.be compresses their downloads into what is known as the .zip format. This speeds up downloads and decreases the file size, making it easier on dial up users :) and even for those who have über connection speeds.

To open such files, you'll have to download a program. Recommended programs are WinZip and WinRAR.
Unfourtunately none of them are free, but they both work wonders with these files and are a must-have application.

Om downloads efficienter te maken, heeft Mess.be hun downloads gecomprimeert (verkleint) naar het bestantstype .zip. Dit bevordert de download snelheid, en maakt de bestanden kleiner, wat vooral makkelijk is voor dail-up gebruikers :) en zelfs ook voor diegene met een snelle verbinding.

Om de .zip bestanden te openen, moet je een programma downloaden. De aanbevolen programma's zijn WinZip en WinRAR [voor de links, zie boven]. Helaas zijn deze programma's allebij niet gratis (WinZip: een splashscreen, WinRAR: 30 dagen trail), maar ze doen allebij wonderen met de bestanden, en zijn 'must-have' programma's.
