How can I transfer my custom emoticons, backgrounds and imported display pictures from MSN Messenger 6 to MSN Messenger 7 beta?

When you install the MSN Messenger 7 BETA over your current MSN Messenger installation, you will notice your imported display pictures, backgrounds and custom emoticons won't survive the update. Luckily, there are two easy ways to get your collection back and use all your custom content in the MSN Messenger 7 BETA:

A] First Method:

1) Close MSN Messenger.

2) Open C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger in Explorer.

3) Copy (CTRL+C) all the directory`s consisting out of a number.

4) Open C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger (BETA) in Explorer.

5) Hit Paste (CTRL+V) and choose to overwrite things when asked.

B] Second Method (thanks to LeoX):

1) Open the MSN Messenger 7.0.0205 installer you downloaded.

2) Select Repair. Now let it repair and click Finish.

3) If you want to apply any patches to remove banners, or the beta-tag, do it now.

4) Run MSN Messenger 7.0 and say "Welcome back!" to your personal stuff.

Not Restored! :(
I tried both alternatives to get the Display Pictures and Emoticons back, and it doesn't work.
The Display Pictures were already restored right after I did that patch, but not the emoticons.

Anyone know what's wrong? :/

Removing the beta tag will also make it use data from MSN Messenger 6.x.

malo, if you just install the patch (patch-for-7.0(www.mess.be)) it will return your emoticons and display pictures because it uses the MSN 6.2 data you had before. So download it and your problems will be solved! There is a link in this topic somewhere to the download page.
