What's new in MSN Messenger 6.2?

Thursday 22th of April 2004 Microsoft released MSN Messenger 6.2.0133, which was later held back for a re-release on Monday the 26th, with however no change in builds. Compared to MSN Messenger 6.1, we found the following changes:

- Autoreplacement of emoticon shortcuts before sending;

- Contact list icon for mobile buddies & group mobile contacts together;

- New name (and icon) for the Launch Site: Fun & Games;

- Four new subscription-based fun & games available to U.S. users only for $4 or $5 per month.

- Integrated connection troubleshooter;

- MSN Toolbar & MSN Search installation upon setup (uncheck to avoid);

- Log filenames now have the beginning of the e-mail address, followed by a number.  When you install MSN Messenger 6.2, it renames all your current log files (except those that have been "archived"). [Reported by: Derwan]

- The webcam feature now remembers the size you had it previously set to, rather than returning to the default size each time webcam is started. [Reported by: Derwan]

- The Dutch version of MSN Messenger 6.2 shortens the "Ben Zo Terug" status (Be Right Back) to "Zo Terug" (Right Back). MS also finally corrected the hover text of the Note (8) emoticon.
