eMSN updated with fun Snap&Sketch feature
 dwergs says ( 16 Aug 2006 ):
|
In other mobile Messenger news, Funrungames announced the new version of their Windows Live/MSN Messenger compatible client for mobiles. eMSN v7.0.0 runs on all MIDP 2.0 java-enabled mobiles and most RIM Blackberries, and is equipped with a feature called Snap&Sketch, which allows you to add text and graphics to pictures taken with your mobile and send them instantly to your Messenger contacts (or e-mail/save them). Mobiles that do not have a camera can still run the Sketch part of Snap&Sketch.
The Messenger client in the Windows Live Mobile suite posted earlier today comes with a similar feature that allows you to send camera pics directly to your contacts, though without the optional customization.

Windows Live Mobile G2 on the loose, supports PPC
 dwergs says ( 16 Aug 2006 ):
|
A couple of weeks back we posted a video and later some screenies of the Windows Live Mobile suite for mobile devices.
Last week the G2 Code refresh was sent to Beta-testers, and after some Googling around I found a couple of interesting links, including leaked copies. But first, here are the changes:
- PocketPC is now supported! - Contacts dupe detection and merge is much improved - Contacts performance is greatly improved (though dupe detection has eliminated some of the gains) - Motorola Q issues have largely been addressed (there were many).
>> Download here or here (links will expire). Note: Install and use at your own risk.
>> A review and some screenshots can be found here.
Word of caution by emmfan from the PDAPhoneHome.com forum: I installed this app, and as mentioned before, the Live client modifies the Pocket Outlook Contacts. What I didn't realize was that it was synchronizing all my hotmail contacts into my Outlook Contacts. This would be fine and all if I had know ahead of time and cleaned up my hotmail contacts beforehand. Now I have a bunch of redundant and outdated contacts all mixed into my Outlook contacts and my xv6700 is stuck in a feedback synch loop."
Thanks for the heads up, mobiman

Whodunnit? Korean blame game over Messenger outage
 dwergs says ( 15 Aug 2006 ):
|
A recent Messenger service disruption in Korea< has ignited a blame game between the world's number one software maker and KT, Korea's top Internet service provider.
Some Korean users of Windows Live/MSN Messenger, who are hooked up to the Web via KT networks, could not log onto the messaging client for several hours last Thursday morning. Microsoft Korea pointed its finger at KT's defective Internet pipeline for the accident and indeed, only KT customers reported service disconnections while subscribers to other domestic high-speed Internet operators were not affected.
However, KT -that accounts for about half of the country's 12.6 million broadband users- accused Microsoft of being responsible for the incident. "While conducting a joint investigation with Microsoft on Thursday, we learned that one of two ports connecting MSN servers to our router in the United States was out of service,'' KT spokesman Hwang Dae-woon said. "Microsoft seems to have erroneously disconnected the port at issue, causing traffic overloads and a service outage. Microsoft investigators admitted it,'' Hwang added.
Microsoft also came under fire because the company did not notify people of the service failure immediately.

Added two more games for you to enjoy to our Messenger Games Launcher. Both Snake2 and 3D Tic Tac Toe were created by Lucas Tan for the World's Best App contest, the latter got bronze.
My apologies for the lack of updates, but work is in progress behind the scenes.
