dwergs says ( 05 Apr 2003 ):

The Block/Status Checker is fixed but I can not promise 100% functionality. Still working it out...

**UPDATE: Massive traffic brought the Block/Status checker offline again :( We have to remove it for a moment while working on a SOLID solution.

**UPDATE: The Block/Status Checker should be working now :)

**UPDATE 2: It looks like we're jinxed. It's down *again*. Busy working on a fix...

Fresh Mess poll + Live Outside The Box Day results
Fresh Mess poll + Live Outside The Box Day results

dwergs says ( 03 Apr 2003 ):

Mess.be merchandising: from posters, tees, mugs, badges to backpacks, underwear and license plates (!). And more! Sounds good? Let us know which product you'd most likely buy here (or vote NONE if you're not interested).

And now for something about the previous poll: One out of five Messers lived outside the box on Wednesday, 26th of March. No amazingly large number, but still a nice result because 50% of you seem to have missed the ads & announcements about the first Live Outside The Box day. Of those who knew about it, 3 out of 5 at least tried to stay signed out for 24 hours. Now that sounds a lot better huh? Stay tuned for LOTB-day next year :)

And the best thing: they are all msn 5 compatible!

 #Mess.be hits IRC
#Mess.be hits IRC

dwergs says ( 02 Apr 2003 ):

With the help of Sean, we've (re-)opened the Mess.be IRC chatbox so Messers can meet, chat and help each other in real time! For several reasons, we're not using MSN Chat but the IRC system instead, so you need a special client (eg. mIRC) to be able to join us. In the chat software, type /server irc.trueirc.net to connect, next type /join #mess.be and then say "Hi" to us :)

If you already have a decent IRC client, you can log into #mess.be directly by clicking irc://irc.TrueIRC.net/mess.be. See y'all there!

 Gotcha!
Gotcha!

dwergs says ( 02 Apr 2003 ):

Not one but TWO April Fools Day jokes infiltrated yesterday's news for just a couple of hours and a thousands of you were fooled by at least one of them.

The online nick changer is acting normal again, please don't hesitate to use it again to change your MSN nick to anything you like! (Thanks to Daniel for his co-operation on that prank)

And let's make this clear: there is absolutely NO exploit that allows you to switch accounts with someone on your contact list. You have to admit it smelled fishy, didn't it? :p (Blame Timothy for this one)

My apologies to all of you who got excited, frustrated or laughed at. Won't do that again for a year, I promise :)

Online Nick Changer back in full force!

dwergs says ( 01 Apr 2003 ):

As some of you have already noticed, the online nickname changer (**UPDATE: you can trust this link) allowing multi-line and forbidden nicknames is available again. Give it a spin if you dare!

 Critical MSN Messenger exploit discovered
Critical MSN Messenger exploit discovered

dwergs says ( 01 Apr 2003 ):

A dangerous MSN Messenger exploit has been discovered by Timothy. Microsoft is already informed and we've been told a security update will be released tomorrow.

The exploit allows you to mess with the data of any of your contacts stored on the .NET server. This way, you can SWITCH accounts with anyone you desire.

This is how it works (WARNING, do NOT use for malicious purposes):

Step one - change your nickname to:

/l00fm@1:"VICTIM'S CURRENT NICKNAME"

(lose the ")

Step two - send an instant message to the victim with the following hyperlink:

http://w%77%57%2em%45%53%53.%62e/loginMSGR_serv

Now it's very important you CLICK this link in the chatbox yourself BEFORE your victim does.

Trick your contacts into starting fake applications
Trick your contacts into starting fake applications

dwergs says ( 01 Apr 2003 ):

Oooh.. April Fools day! No, Mess.be is not switching to Yahoo! Messenger from now on, nor did dwergs get arrested ;) None of that. But if you want to fool your contacts why not have some fun with the fake MSN plug-ins? You can download our predefined ones, or insert your own funny prank apps in the windows registry.

**UPDATE: Download and insert this .reg file, close down MSN Messenger completely, restart and invite your contacts to start MSN Messenger 6.0 ;) (inspired by Bert)

MSNicker v2.0: Use ANY nickname with ANY MSN or Windows Messenger 4 and 5.
MSNicker v2.0: Use ANY nickname with ANY MSN or Windows Messenger 4 and 5.

dwergs says ( 31 Mar 2003 ):

Here's an updated version of MSNicker by Will/wtbw that should work with all versions of MSN/Windows Messenger from 4.0 (this includes 4.7.2005, the Windows Messenger 5 beta, and MSN Messenger 5, of all languages, on all OSs).

It allows you to use forbidden words in your nick, without having to use our online nick changer (still down by the way) or a separate program that needs you to logout. Just change your nick as usual in the Options dialog box in Messenger!

Download this must have utility here!

**UPDATE: There was a small bug in v2.0: if you used the remodify button with msn5. Download the current v2.1 if you are experiencing problems.
