Nega Patch for MSN Messenger 6.0.0503
dwergs says ( 12 Jul 2003 ):
|
Disable the 'User is Typing' message from showing, remove the ad banner, Appear Offline automatically on signing in, remove the butterfly from the tray icon and enable multiple msn (= polygamy). That's about what flur's Nega Patch, now available for MSN 6 Build 0503, does for you. Download it from us here.
Due to lots of requests, there are two additional Nega versions available here:
- No AO has all the features mentioned above except Appear Offline. - No UT has all the features except User is Typing.
It's your pick. |

MSN Messenger 6.0.0503
Johnny_Mac says ( 10 Jul 2003 ):
|
MSN Messenger 6.0.0503 has been released today, one week before the scheduled final release on the 17th of this month. This version is expected to be close to the final release, if not being the final release. Noticing early screenshots of MSN Messenger 6, the word (BETA) was found in the main window title; noticeably in this version it has disappeared.
Plus! fans will also be pleased to know that they are no reported compatibility issues with this version.
Downloads for all OS' found on the MSN Messenger 6 Preview site.

Messenger Plus! 2.20 pre-release!
Johnny_Mac says ( 10 Jul 2003 ):
|
A pre-release of Messenger Plus! 2.20 is out now. This release is most probably the final release of 2.20 you'll get "next Sunday". This version is not a debug version (therefore no dump file on your C drive) and includes some new sound commands. If you want to know what they are, you'll have to go install it.

Updated: MSN Messenger 6 reshack skinning tutorials
dwergs says ( 10 Jul 2003 ):
|
Theo from Xzaust.com has updated his MSN Messenger 6 Reshack skinning tutorial and added illustrative pictures.
At the same site, die hard reshackers can learn how to add custom animated emoticons with this tutorial. These animated emoticons will only appear on a reshacked version of MSN Messenger.
If these were the first three times you read the word 'reshack', it might not be advisable to get on with that sort of skinning ;) |

Time for a public justification
dwergs says ( 09 Jul 2003 ):
|
I'd like to take responsibility and apologise to Koalablue and dxtremz for the offensive actions of Mess.be admin m_chibi. Not in his name (I can't do that) but for not being able to prevent it. You guys are doing an outstanding job at the #msgplus channel, keep it up! :D |
Game enabler for Nega Patch users
dwergs says ( 09 Jul 2003 ):
|
Users who have previously applied the Nega Patch for MSN Messenger 6.0.0268 (the public preview version) and are still unable to connect to the game server for some fine Minesweepin' or good Bejewelin' can now apply flur's Game enabler. Note: You need to do some additional manual XML editing yourself (see the included README.TXT).
By the way, the Nega patch went multi-langual (Dutch, French, Spanish, Swedish, German and Spanish). Find these translated versions at msn.d1f.org. |
New Passport flaw fixed
dwergs says ( 09 Jul 2003 ):
|
Microsoft said it has fixed another security flaw in its single sign-on "Passport" service that could have allowed hackers to hijack accounts created more than four years ago.
Microsoft senior manager, Jeff Jones, said that he believes no Passport accounts were stolen, but also declined to say how many people were at risk. As part of its repair efforts, Microsoft briefly prevented some Passport users from manually changing their passwords.

Messenger Plus! Plugins and other downloads
dwergs says ( 08 Jul 2003 ):
|
The plugin capability of the latest Plus! releases is a sure winner that will make the most popular MSN Messenger addon even bigger, no doubt about it.
Because I'm expecting a substantial increase of Plus! related addons and Plugins now, I've decided to regroup all the extensions into a separate Messenger Plus! downloads category. In there freshly added, you will find the first 6 plugins I got my hands on:
- l33tifier by Segosa - Ping? Pong! by Segosa (and Patchou) - Plugin Loader by loconet - Up Time by Segosa - XFade by Finn - Miscellaneous French Commands Plus! Plugin (author currently unknown)
If you want to give Plus! plugin programming a go, have a look at the API documentation (updated today). If you think your plugin is good enough to be featured on Mess.be, please submit it here.

Remember, Plus! 2.20 is still BETA, errors will occur. Expect a final release of 2.20 in the coming weeks, check mess.be to find out first!

Exclusive: MSN Messenger game cheating
timothy says ( 08 Jul 2003 ):
|
Cheating is bad, very bad, but possible with MSN Messenger games because Microsoft has managed its code in such a way it can be exploited easily if you know how to code.
If you want more theoretical information on "how to cheat" read my little article over here. The article will not provide you with a go-and-cheat solution, because otherwise lame people will spoil the fun of the games.

MSN Extra Storage for Hotmail now coming to Europe
dwergs says ( 07 Jul 2003 ):
|
The MSN Extra Storage service that's been around in the U.S. since September 2001 is coming to Belgium and twelve other European countries this Summer. This is the first paid service the MSN Portals will be offering on our continent. Included in the 31.99 euro per year deal are 10 mb extra Hotmail storage (about 500 extra e-mails), attachments of up to 3 mb, guaranteed activeness of your account without having to log in each 30 days, and 30 megabytes storage for your MSN Groups.
Strongly believing the Internet population is ready for paid content and services, MSN is already planning the launch of an online music service later this year.
Meanwhile, and contrary to several rumors out there, the basic Hotmail account and MSN Messenger Service remain completely free.
