Even before it is officially launched, MSN 8 has won high marks from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as well as Internet mom Robin Raskin. You can read Microsoft’s full press report on this matter here.
Concerning the new MSN Messenger client, the increased parental controls come down to:
- a parent-approved contact list;
- an e-mail based request line, through which kids can ask permission to use restricted MSN Messenger accounts;
- a weekly e-mail message sent to parents details MSN Messenger accounts of people with whom they’ve corresponded and attempted to correspond.
It’s Instant Messaging meets Big Mother ;)
