Euro 2008: Russia versus Spain

The second Euro 2008 semi-final gives Russia another chance to defeat Spain (which by the way crushed them 4-1 in the pool stage). The free Messenger goodies we have on offer today are also in favor of the Hispanic team.
vs These animated emoticons were taken from the French Euro 2008 Messenger Foot Emoticon Pack which can be downloaded . The same images are also available as Messenger avatars in this pack (be sure to watch our installation instructions first).
We took a bit of red paint and gave some of the default Windows Live Messenger emoticons the colours of the Spanish flag. A pack of fourteen emoticons can be instantly added to your Messenger account if you use our free CustoMess application. Have a nice game, mujeres y hombres! >> Download CustoMess.

Apollo IM added to upcoming App Store catalogue
dwergs says ( 25 Jun 2008 ):
|
Apollo IM, the first jailbreak IM app for the iPhone, will be made available for everybody through the upcoming, official iPhone App Store. Its original developers will continue to work on the current client, but the official SDK release has become their main priority.
Other than that the App Store version will be "new software", there are no details on its name, price or release date.

All-inclusive but temporary hyperlink ban

Yesterday, June 23rd at 5:00 PM Brussels time, Windows Live Messenger blocked all instant messages containing any sort of clickable link (i.e. an URL preceded with www or http://). The situation was reported to us by Messers Dave-8128, Bram, Link0, Mattias B, lemon, ScHiZi and mynetx.
A server hiccup or failure of the controversial SPIM filter, we can only guess at the cause. But merely two hours later everything was fixed and restored again.

i'm Intiative 30-day Talkathon takes off
dwergs says ( 24 Jun 2008 ):
|
Have you heard about the i'm talkathon? It's a marketing campaign by McCann promoting the here repeatedly mentioned i'm Initiative which launched in March last year and already raised $1,579,720 for ten different good causes.
Apparently, the talkathon started today and stars a certain Parker Whittle who's going to be e-mailing and IMing as much as he can for the next 30 days. For the common good! Through his blog, he tries encourage others to do the same. Parker also has a page on Facebook, Tweets on Twitter and posts pictures on Flickr.
The sad thing is: Parker is a fictional character (personated by an actor and copywriter) which makes the whole venture a bit sterile and uninteresting to follow. I also added Parker's e-mail address (im_parket@hotmail.com) as soon as I found out about the campaign but for someone who promised to be on Messenger as much as possible, it's disappointing that he still hasn't added one of his probably first contacts... Shouldn't there be at least a Windows Live Agent behind this?
I'm sure that if Microsoft tried hard enough -for instance asked our Messers ;)- they would've found a real, cool person crazy enough to pull the stunt. For the common good. It might have costed Microsoft a month's supply of frozen pizzas, and I bet that's cheaper than a McCann campaign.
UPDATE: I posted a comment on the talkathon blog and it got deleted. Fake Parker can't take criticism, it seems ;) In other i'm Initiative related news, today's free gift on Facebook is an i'm Initiative Cuppa Karma as a "free reminder to do good". 250.000 35,127 available, so share a cuppa!
>> Visit the Talkathon blog.
>> More information about the i'm Initiative (Note that the i'm Initiative is still only active in the United States and that using the i'm icon in other countries will unfortunately not raise any money).
>> Reversed talkathon? We had thousands of people stay offline for 24 hours on our Live Outside The Box Day in 2003. |
