3rd Mess.be Artist Showcase: Michael Lalonde
 dwergs says ( 02 Dec 2003 ):
|
I'm very very proud to present to you today Mess.be's third edition of the artist showcase featuring nobody less than *drumrolls*... Michael Lalonde.
Michael Lalonde has been a web designer for many years, and has created lots of websites and online games during his career, but he is a relative newcomer to the world of webcomics. A little over a year ago, he created the webcomic "Orneryboy" because he needed a creative outlet apart from his day job. So he started drawing comics about everything that made him angry. He only ever intended to amuse himself, but somehow he managed to make other people laugh in the process, and ever since they've been forcing him to create a new strip every week.
Michael lives in Canada where he works as a freelance designer and illustrator. He also has a comic for children called "Odd Stars", which is published quarterly in the Canadian children's magazine "Whoa!".
For the Mess.be Artist Showcase, he managed to produce 80 top quality icons in total! 24 each of Dirtygirl and Orneryboy (4 featuring both of them), 12 of Brian the zombie, and the remaining 16 feature some minor characters from the comic.
Check out Michael Lalonde's display picture collection especially for Mess.be (yeah, I'm so proud it hurts)! And make sure you spend quality time at Michael's Orneryboy.com |

Le nouveau Hotmail est arrivé!
 dwergs says ( 01 Dec 2003 ):
|
Go on then! Log into your Hotmail account now and see for yourself :)
It'll take a few moments to get used to the total visual makeover (especially that 160x600 banner on the right). Technical changes seem to be primary focused on enhanced spam management and integration with MSN subscriber services. Interesting for us is the Instant Reply button allowing you to reply to an email live and instantly through MSN Messenger. |
1st of December: World Aids Day
 dwergs says ( 01 Dec 2003 ):
|
Today, the 1st of December, it's World Aids Day. Five people worldwide die of AIDS every minute of every day. HIV has hit every corner of the globe, infecting more than 42 million men, women and children, 5 million of them last year alone.
This year's Aids day focuses on stigma and discrimination, major factors fuelling the global HIV epidemic, creating a climate of fear and ignorance and a reluctance to confront rising infection rates. Please take your time to learn more about AIDS and this year's theme at the following sites:

Welcome aboard MSNP10!

Since the maintenance on the MSN Messenger servers tonight, wtbw, daniel and ZoRoNaX have discovered that the latest MSN Messenger client version (6.1.0203) is now using msnp10 with the main MSN servers. There are a few differences in the new protocol, but nothing useful over msnp9 has been found yet. There are still some mysteries to unlock though...

.NET Messenger Service and Mess.be downtime
 dwergs says ( 30 Nov 2003 ):
|
Earlier today, the MSN Messenger network has been acting weird after sending a "This service is going offline" alert to its current users. Zero1 reported his nickname not appearing when logging in after the downtime (see screenshot), but still there for his contacts. Maybe MSN changed another aspect of the Display Name formatting?
Coincidentally, Mess.be has been down for several hours today. But don't worry now, all systems are GO!
