Mess.be Presents: Second Artist Showcase: Floris (aka Mr. Fart)
dwergs says ( 10 Oct 2003 ):
|
Following up Jason Pultz in Mess.be's second artist showcase is the young, talented and -last but not least- Belgian imagevirtuoso Floris, also known as Mr. Fart. As a pro Floris is busy with freelance illustration, animation and webdesign, but he's most famous for his cute 'n chubby comic drawings.
Mr. Fart's comic called "The Professor" got published Dutch and Belgian magazines, with his drawings he won Gamespy's Planet Wolfenstein competition... twice, and almost all of you have seen at least one of his creations: the world-famous Messer mascotte.
His big ambition is to make a full-size comic album, but in the meantime he delivered -exclusively for our artist showcase- 65 superlovely display pictures based on the adorable characters from his past work.
Go ahead, enjoy Mess.be's second artist showcase featuring Floris!
(If you are a professional -as in: it's your job- comic or graphic artist and would like to showcase display pictures or emoticons on Mess.be, send the url of your portfolio to artist $$ mess.be -replace $$ with @-) |
Updated: Winamp Auto Nick Changer v1.1
dwergs says ( 10 Oct 2003 ):
|
By popular demand, Monty has made some adjustments to his WinAmp Auto Nick Changer, fixing some bugs and adding some new stuff to the addon that puts the currently playing song title in your MSN nickname.
First of all it looks like it works with both WinAmp 2 and 3 now, and with MSN Messenger 6.0 as well as with 6.1. Some new features:
- Detects the WinAmp status: "stopped", "paused" or "playing"; - Saves your original nickname on "START" and restores the original nickname after "STOP"; - Saves settings in the Windows registry (so no more reentering initial settings); - Also possible to add custom text behind the songs name; - Auto minimize after "START".
Yes, I know you wanna download! :) |

New MeSseNtial download: MSN Messenger 6.x Color Changer
dwergs says ( 09 Oct 2003 ):
|
Messers have been changing their font color to different colors than the 16 default ones since eternity. And quite some automatic font color changers have passed this news page. But if you would ask us one custom color changer to recommend, it would be the MSN Messenger 6.x Color Changer by doodle. Simply because it works great and simplifies font color changing with MSN Messenger 6.x thanks to the built-in account-to-number converter. And because font color changing is something everyone with even just a little interest in messing with MSN Messenger should be doing, we made it a MeSseNtial download.

On Tuesday Microsoft has won a patent for an instant messaging feature that notifies users when the person they are communicating with is typing a message.
The patent encompasses a feature that's not only on Microsoft's IM products but also on those of its rivals America Online and Yahoo. Patent No. 6,631,412 could serve as a weapon in the battle for IM market share.
Having a patent can be a powerful tool, but only if it can be proven in a court that its owner has bulletproof claims to the invention, according to legal experts. "This means that if someone tries to invalidate the Microsoft patent, they would try to find examples of instant messaging that predated the filing date," said intellectual property attorney Carl Oppedahl.

Mess.be presents: Timothy's Internet Explorer Display Picture Plugin
dwergs says ( 08 Oct 2003 ):
|
Even before I could say: "No Timothy, you must've misunderstood what I was asking", he created me an extremely useful tool that is undoubtfully a thousand times better than whatever I was talking about. Timothy's Internet Explorer Display Picture Plugin adds the option 'Set as Display Picture' to the pop-up menu when you right-click an image on any website.
No JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF or PNG on the web is safe anymore: in a click you will be changing your display picture more often than a stripper changes underwear.
Download the IE Display Picture Plugin and attack our MSN Display Pictures collection! WARNING: Addiction may occur!
UPDATE: The IE DP plugin has been updated to version 1.2. Now you can also import images directly from your hard disk (Windows Explorer) AND from our MSN Display Pictures, thanks to an idea from Opperator. If you have installed the first release already, just remove it and re-install this one.
EXTRA NOTE: If you're using Windows XP and experiencing problems with this plugin, you might want to consider installing Windows Messenger 5 on top. |
MSN Messenger on your mobile after October 15th
dwergs says ( 07 Oct 2003 ):
|
Oh oh, October 15th -the day a drastical change to the MSN Messenger protocol will disconnect all incompatible clients- is getting closer and still Microsoft hasn't provided a necessary upgrade for customers using Windows Mobile-based Smartphones. The company is still working with its mobile operator partners to make updates available, but the possibility exists Microsoft won't beat the deadline leaving a substantial part of Smartphone users out in the cold. But let's not jump to any conclusions yet, because...
...Microsoft states that "some Windows Mobile-based Smartphones will be compatible with the new protocol out-of-the-box and customers will not need to take any action in order to access MSN Messenger after October 15".
...users of Pocket PC-based devices had to wait for their upgrade until today.
So, Smartphone users, just keep an eye on this page and pray ;) |

Messenger Plus! 2.50 - Translation SIGN UP
Johnny_Mac says ( 06 Oct 2003 ):
|
"Hello!
As you may know, I'm currently working on Messenger Plus! 2.50. This version will require several important language updates (for the new features) so any language file that won't be updated in time won't be included in the public release.
If you want to help to update the script of your language, please send an email to mplus-trans[a]patchou.com (replace [a] with @) and tell me for what language you want to sign-up.
Note: that if you are already on the official translator mailing list (it means you received emails when Messenger Plus! 2.20 were released 2 month ago), there is no need for you to email me; you'll receive the usual instructions as soon as a beta version is ready to be translated."
This is the message from Patchou on the future version of Plus! Anyone wanting to see the full article can do so here. |
New Poll: Would you pay for emoticons?
dwergs says ( 06 Oct 2003 ):
|
You can find over 3000 MSN emoticons on Mess.be, all for free and more being added each day. Thanks to the people clicking on ads on our pages, we have no intention of ever charging you for downloading custom emoticons, don't worry. They're all from Messers to Messers.
But with a service like MyEmo.com around, offering 75 high-quality emoticons for only $4.99, we're just wondering how many of you would consider paying for a set of cool and exclusive emoticons? After all, it's comparable to downloading ringtones for your mobile phone. Please let us know in our new poll. |
